The 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) was held in Geneva in May 2024, bringing together representatives from all member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss major global public health issues. This edition was particularly marked by post-pandemic efforts to strengthen health systems around the world, Strategies for better preparedness for future pandemics and the global response to emerging health challenges such as non-communicable diseases, antimicrobial resistant infections and climate change.

At the heart of discussions is the implementation of the WHO’s Global Work Programme 2024-2029, with priorities such as universal health coverage, mental health and improving access to vaccines. Emphasis was also placed on health equity, especially for vulnerable populations. Global leaders, health experts and non-state actors presented innovative solutions to achieve the health-related sustainable development goals by 2030. .
